Dry Hawaii Cacao Beans - Per Lb
Single-origin Hawaiian Cacao Beans are some of the finest beans in the world. Artisan chocolate makers prefer this high-quality cacao bean due to its flavor profile, mouthfeel, and lack of bitterness. Make your artisan chocolate, or use the cacao beans in other fun and creative culinary projects!
The unique flavor of our Hawaiian cacao is due to a combination of factors, including:
Sustainability
Our farm is completely off-grid and committed to sustainable and equitable practices, such as preserving natural habitats, saving water, and being socially conscious.Terroir
Hawaii's climate, soil, and overall environment, including its rich volcanic soil and latitude, create an ideal environment for cacao trees to thrive. The volcanic soil gives the cacao unique minerals that result in subtle earthy undertones. The climate is known as the “North Pole” of cacao growing which results in a naturally higher fat content than beans grown in other areas of the world.
Our cacao orchards are located on the slopes of Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii surrounded by various tropical fruits and nuts, creating luxurious, people’s choice award-winning*, beans.
Pests and Diseases
Hawaii is relatively free of most pests and diseases that can threaten cacao trees in other parts of the world.
Our beans are fermented using banana leaves, and then naturally sun-dried in our greenhouse. We choose to maintain its intrinsic flavor and highest antioxidant properties.
Cacao beans are meant for further processing since they are a raw agricultural ingredient that has been in contact with soil and other outdoor elements.
Beans are purchased by the lb, minimum 1lb. For bulk orders (more than 10 lbs), email milissa@lavaloha.com to inquire about wholesale prices.
