Intro

Aloha and welcome. Lavaloha has always been more than a chocolate farm. We are part of a working community here on the slopes of Mauna Kea, and this page is about the people around us: the students who visit, the farmers we grow alongside, and the neighbors who show up for each other when it counts.

Mahalo, Hilo!

In May 2026 a fire took our production faciliy & warehouse. It did not take our trees, our team, or our spirit.

After the fire, fellow chocolate makers opened their doors so our bars could keep flowing. Local partners helped us get production running again at the Hilo Food Hub. Guests kept booking tours, employees kept showing up, and this community reminded us what ʻohana really means.

We are rebuilding, and we are doing it the same way this farm was built the first time: together, step by step, with a lot of help from our friends. Mahalo nui loa to everyone who reached out, sent kind words, or simply came up the hill to say hello. It mattered more than you know.

School Visits & Education

Teaching the next generation about agriculture is one of the best parts of this job. Lavaloha welcomes school groups as a way to give back to our local community. Students walk the orchards, see cacao growing on the tree, and learn how food actually gets made. No screens required.

To set up a school visit, email us at enjoy@lavaloha.com or click the link here. We ask for at least one week of notice so we can give your group the attention it deserves.
